Using Pinterest for Prospect Research

A colleague sent me this article about using Pinterest for research.  It was written from a marketing perspective, but I wonder if there are applications to prospect research.  Please chime in if you use Pinterest in your development work.

  1. When I find out that a prospect has a Pinterest account, I first take a look at the followers and following lists for leads that might help me uncover hard-to-identify family members, especially in those cases when we lack information on spouses, parents, or siblings. I have also used it to uncover connections between prospects. The pinned information sometimes provides hints about a prospect's philanthropic interests or the impending occurrence of certain life events (e.g. weddings, new home purchases, birth of children) that could affect our perspective on a prospect's overall wealth.
